Met friends for dinner on Friday night at Purple Cafe and Wine Bar in Woodinville (also located in Seattle, Bellevue and Kirkland). Tried one of their small bites Gorgonzola Stuffed Dates listed under “Tastes” on the dinner menu – they were to die for! The dates were chewy and tangy with a sharp bite from the Gorgonzola, topped with pine nuts and a healthy drizzle of saba (this is similar to balsamic vinegar in taste). A nice variety of tangy, sweet, and yet salty, all at the same time. I am going to try to duplicate these soon, and if successful will post the recipe. If you live in the Seattle area, go to Purple and start your dining experience with this appetizer – they are amazing!
